iPhone 3G

Well i got my iPhone 3G and was it worth the wait? Probably not.

Problems

  • In my mind, the original iPhone is of a better build quality - the plastic back and metal switches on the 3G feel a bit (dare i say it) cheap.
  • The screen doesn't seem as bright.
  • The phone is less rounded and slightly wider than it's predecessor so it doesn't sit as nicely in your hand :/
I'm hoping in the long run the faster data, GPS and further upgrades will change my opinion on the device but at the moment i'm feeling rather underwhelmed.

Should you get an iPhone 3G? If you have an original i wouldn't bother unless 3G/GPS is kind of a big deal for you.

EDIT: It's not all doom and gloom. I've been playing with MobileMe and i've found it pretty immense so far.

EDIT 2: iPhone 3G switches falling off

Bricks

Sorry, i dont mean to be adding to the echo chamber but the new iPhone update (1.1.1) effectively bricks unlocked iPhones. Obviously Apple have some sort of contractual obligation to AT&T to prevent humans from using their phones on other carriers but this could (and is) turning into a PR quagmire for APPL.

All aboard the failboat.

AirPort Express

I finally hooked up the AirPort Express to the printer and you know what? It just works. Id recommend it to anybody: wireless internet, music and printing. The wires are slowly disappearing from my bedroom [this is good].
